Welcome Doug!
I guess you can speak perfectly German at the point where you pronounce
"Streichholzschächtelchen" right...
Keep on trying!
@Rene
there is a tiny difference between English and
American English... So better listen to both and then decide, what you like the best!
(I prefer Brittish English!!!)

Einst konnte man im Föhren
große Hirsche röhren hören.
Doch Röhrentechnik ging verloren,
längst haben Hirsche Transistoren.

Vie Gehts. Thanks for all the responses and the warm welcome! I will try and post some things in German along the way.
Yes, the desert can be cold! That was the high desert above Los Angleles, 29 degrees ( 0 cel.? ) that morning. You can see the snow on the mountain in the background.
35mph? Well, the speed limit may be lower here, but we have lots of roads with wide open areas. There are countless canyon roads near by, from Malibu to the desert.
On the BMW, I almost bought one last month. Lots of them here in Calif.
Yes, if someone needs parts, I'll see what I can do.
Cheers all, Doug

I agree with you panther...
For me Brit/English is better than American/English because it is easyier to understand it.
An example : G.W.Bush....Nobody in the world understand him
@orangetrak...welcome and have fun in the best german biker web site.

Hi Doug, welcome!
Your SV 650 looks nice. Especially the small licence plate is cool.
What kind of exhaust system did you build in ? [brand, costs]
Kind regards,
jd!

JD The exhaust is a Renegade ( see link below ) from England. Very nice quality and sounds great. $400.00 US.
Sven The GSX1400 isn't sold here in the states. ( yet; I wish ) But I'll check and see what I can find out.
Regarding politics...I don't want to get into it here as I'm sure I will disagree with many of you. ( Which is O.K.) Just want to talk about bikes.
Cheers, Doug

Hi Doug,
greetings, i'm in LA, too. Unfortunately only with a rental car, not bike
Concerning politics: One american guy i met told me "You'll be the next!" as an answer to the question, if he agrees with the decision to bomb the iraque.
It was a joke, but ... you're right. We shouldn't talk about stuff like that

Hello! Yes, I've been on Palomar and you are correct; it's awesome. The back side road was built with geometrically perfect curves to bring the large mirror used at the Palomar Observatory safely. There are other roads that rival it as well. Please use this link ( See below ) to read ( english only, I think..) about some of our great roads, particularly along the Pacific Coast. This site will take a while to read as there is a ton of information.

PS This is one of the greatest; 20 minutes from me..
